Farewell to Flies
_Liz Vander Clute

Swish! Bite! Flick! Stomp!I’m sure your horse has done all of these things to tell you that they are being bitten by flies.Well, I am going to share with you a few helpful hints and tips on how to get rid of these pesky creatures.
If you are looking for a more natural fly repellant, try rubbing on wormwood oil.If you like to stick to the fly spray, make an effort to wipe it on instead of spraying. This is because more than 40% of fly spray is wasted due to spraying on the repellant. Also, if you do spray on the repellant and your bottle gets clogged, just run hot water right through it and it will work like new again.
For all the people out there would love to go on trail rides, this next sneaky hint is for you.Ride at or near the end of the line so the lead horse will get all the biting flies. It can be seen as mean, but it works!
Most flies swarm around the legs of your horse. As a consequence, that is where they will most likely lay their eggs. That will lead to rashes or wounds caused by the maggots eating away at the skin. One way to get rid of this is to actually shave the eggs off of your horse’s legs with a lady’s safety razor.
Last but not least, I have a lesser known tip to defeat those irritating flies. It is to add cider vinegar to your horse’s water. Now, when the fly bites into your horses’ skin, it won’t taste very good and they will stay away.

Use these helpful tips and hints to get rid of the annoying, horse-biting FLIES!!
