Subject: Wormer recall

Last week a woman wormed 5 of her horses with a new wormer Bimectin lot 5J019 and the rest of her herd with her normal wormer. Within days all 5 horses had died.

Here is a post about a recall of this wormer:

This info came from the askavet group.......

Per Bimectin manufacturer the lot number is 5J019. Return the dewormers for a full refund to the store where they were purchased.

It was recently offered for sale through both Country Supply and Jeffers as "Generic Ivermectin". According to discussion on other horse discussion groups, Country Supply has just stopped selling Bimectin, which they
call "Generic Ivermectin" More info on the product:

BBL19 Bimectin
There is currently a possible safety issue regarding the use of Bimectin. Until we feel confident enough to give it to our own horses we suggest that you purchase Equimectrin (#BBL08) or one of our other deworming products. Sorry, Out of Stock

Bravo for Country Supply (and/or maybe the manufacturer). One way or another, they are jumping on this. As they ought to. Good for them.

Jeffers still has it available. Stateline either removed it entirely from their site, or maybe they just don't sell it.
